Senator Sani lashes govt over double standard on Kaduna killings

FORMER lawmaker that represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, Shehu Sani has lambasted government of adopting double standard in its approach in the fight of crimes in the country.

Sani, who is also a human rights activist expressed his disappointment on Wednesday on his social media handle stressing that killings, banditry and kidnappings in Zamfara state and other states in the north east are condemned as criminalities and evil but those that happened in Kaduna are given justifications with excuses and explanations.

He said that such double standard; that is application of different sets of principles for situations that are, in principle, the same is unacceptable.

“When the bandits kills in Zamfara, it’s condemned; when the Bandits kills in Southern Kaduna, it’s explained”, Sani stated.

The former lawmaker’s reaction followed a press release by the presidency which stated that killings in Kaduna are mostly politically-motivated and reprisal attacks with a call on the people to be active in the fight against crimes in the state.

The call demanded the people to get involved in sourcing for information on criminalities in the localities to security agencies.
