55yr old woman, daughter electrocuted in a shop

A woman, Mrs. Patience Ugbana aged 55 and her 10 years old daughter, Adaeze were electrocuted in Okpuno Nnewi in Nnewi North LGA of Ananmbra state on Monday.

SP Haruna Mohammed, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Tuesday in Awka and stated that the unfortunate incident occurred when a high-tension wire allegedly fell on the victims’ shop.

Mohammed added that Police operatives visited the scene and victims were rushed to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi for treatment but they were confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.

“On 18/05/2020 at about 330pm, there was a report at Otolo Division that one Mrs Patience Ugbana ‘f’ aged 55 years and her daughter Miss Adaeze Ugbana ”f’ aged 10years were electrocuted in their shop along St Peter’s junction Okpuno Nnewichi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State when a high tension electric wire allegedly fell on victim’s shop”, PPRO stated.

He also said that the corpses have been deposited at the same hospital’s morgue for autopsy while Investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident is going on.
