THE Management, Staff and Students of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, have commended President Muhammadu Buhari on the appointment of its former Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari as his new Chief of Staff following the demise of Mallam Abba Kyari.
In a statement signed by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Muhammed Mustapaha Akanbi (SAN), the appointment of Professor Gambari was an astute decision taken by Mr. President considering Professor Gambari’s national and international standing and experience.
The Vice Chancellor avowed that the choice of Professor Gambari as the country’s Chief of Staff was timely and crucial now that the country needs to brainstorm over the current Covid-19 pandemic that is ravaging the whole world including Nigeria.
“The respected Professor Gambari’s career as an academic and international civil servant has taken him to far-flung corners of the world: from London, New York in America, Nicosia (Cyprus), Singapore, and Rwanda, to the war-torn Dafur region of the Sudan; from Bellagio in Italy to Yangon in Myanmar. Today, he has been widely referred to as a global citizen” Professor Akanbi said.
The Vice Chancellor hinted that Professor Gambari was on March 4, 2013, appointed as the pioneer Chancellor of the Kwara State University (KWASU during which he laid a solid foundation of the university by his exposure and foresight leading the institution to progressively stand out amongst institutions of learning in the country.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that his appointment would give boosts to the government on account of Prof Gambari’s national and international astute recognitions which will inarguably benefit the country.
Professor Akanbi also felicitated with the Emir of Ilorin, HRH (Dr). Ibrahim Sulu Gambari; Kwara state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; the Emirate as well as entire people of Kwara state over the confidence President Buhari reposed to an indigene of Kwara state by the vital position.
The statement also congratulated the new appointee, Professor Gambari, on his well-deserved appointment and advised him to bring all his vast experiences to bear in discharging his duty in order to justify the confidence reposed in him by the federal government.
