ORISON Marden in his teaching said, “All who have accomplished great things have had a great aim, have fixed their gaze on a goal which was high, one which sometimes seemed impossible”.
Dr. Orison Swett Marden was an American inspirational author who wrote about achieving success in life and founded SUCCESS magazine in 1897. His writings discuss common-sense principles and virtues that make for a well-rounded, successful life. Many of his ideas are based on New Thought philosophy.
Without digressing, as I was reading one of my previous posts that I posted on my WhatsApp status on Saturday (you can check the post through the link below), that statement or title dropped in my mind.

This particular statement “Do you (People) even set goals?” dropped into my heart and it pricked my heart.
I know you are familiar with the word “goals” and I know you can even tell me what it means.
I wouldn’t want to bore you with the details of what goals refers to but let me drop the meaning in simple terms.
GOALS are the specific actions we set to accomplish in order to satisfy our desires
I know many of us fall in this category (of not setting Goals). You know yourself better than I do.
You know what you need to work towards.
You have the clear picture of what you want to achieve before the year ends but let me burst your bubbles that it won’t happen just by remembering it or picturing it in your mind.
No, it won’t. (Hope your heart didn’t skip a beat?).
As much as I am typing this, the words are also hitting me hard.
You can’t just sit and stare at the cup of water on the table while you are feeling thirsty. You need to take the steps of of taking the cup from the table and drinking the water.
Goals are like that. They are steps towards achieving the bigger picture that you have.
It’s still not too late to set the goals for your 2020 picture.
The fact that things didn’t go as planned in the previous months, does not imply that it will be like that for the rest of the year.
Set those goals.
You can take a moment now and write down the steps to achieving that picture in your mind.
Write those goals (from the smallest to the biggest).
Set those goals and determine to take actions towards the goals.
As teenagers,
Do you want to learn that skill? Set a step by step goal on how to make it a reality.
Do you want to top your class and be one of the best students this term? It won’t happen by mere wishing. Set necessary goals to achieving it.
Do you want to save some amount? What are you financial goals? Work on it.
Do you want to read that book before the month ends? Another month will begin in few days. Add it to the month plan.
Write those goals down and put it in a place where you can easily remember and check your progress on it.
“The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.” —Bill Copeland
It is not too late to achieve your set goals this year.
Thanks for reading through.
I hope you got value from this. Kindly, let me know in the comment section.
Have a Goal-smashing week ahead. Be Motivated.
