IPOB warns FG against further harassment of S’East, S’South leaders

THE Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has described the call for probe of some key persons in the administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as selective, witch-hunting and intimidation, and asked federal government to commence the probe with his predecessors if serious in its fight against corruption.

The leader of the IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, who stated this in a Radio Biafra broadcast on Thursday claimed that the federal government is deliberately using the probe threats to make former leaders of the Southeast and South-south zones of the country submit to their selfish demands.

The group expressed disappointment over the alleged hunt of foreign bank accounts belonging to former President Goodluck Jonathan by the Nigerian government which it said is discriminatory and a pull-down syndrome, and also wondered why PANDEF and Ohaneze-Ndigbo have remained mum over the alleged renewed attack on Jonathan.

Kanu specifically condemned that the recent call for the probe of the wife of former first-lady, Dame Patience Jonathan and former minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison Madueke stating that the probe must not commence with former leaders from the Southeast and South-south extractions.

He also stated that the magnitude of corruption going on in the present administration is far higher than whatever that was encountered in the previous administration and therefore warned that such intimidation and harassment will be resisted.

“Those who are calling for the accounts of Dr Jonathan, his wife and that of Dr. Diezani Allison Madueke, are the real people perpetrating corruption and looting in Nigeria. I wonder why such people have not dissipated the same energy to ask about the atrocities going on in Aso Rock”, Kanu stated.
