THE Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Nigeria Branch) has described the death of Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN) who until his death was an astute member of the branch, as a great loss to the Branch, legal profession and the nation at large.
Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN) was a Fellow, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (United Kingdom).
In a tribute by the Chairman, CIARB-Nigerian Branch, Mr. Olatunde Busari, SAN and a Chartered Arbitrator, the Branch described the late legal luminary as a rare gem in character and outstanding in his careers as a lawyer and arbitrator.
The Branch expressed deep sympathy on his demise and prayed for God to grant his soul eternal rest and a fortitude to all that he impacted while alive and the family in particular to bear the great loss.
”The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Nigeria Branch) received with total submission to the will of God, the sad news of the demise of one of our members, Chief Richard Akinjide, SAN, FCIArb.
“Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN) was passionate about his work as a legal practitioner and arbitrator. We wish our time together could have been longer, but the Lord chose to call him to eternal glory after a commendable service to the nation and mankind. Though he is no longer with us, we are consoled that his legacy lives on. Indeed, the Branch has lost a rare gem.
“He was an active and a strong supporter of the Nigerian Branch and served as a member of its Training Faculty. For many years, Chief Richard Akinjide, SAN was one of the leading arbitrators in the field of Oil and Gas, and has published many articles and awards to his credit. He, together with his ilk, contributed in no small measure, at ensuring that Arbitration gains prominence as an effective and efficient method of resolving commercial disputes in Nigeria.
“On behalf of the Branch, I convey my heartfelt condolences to his daughter (who is also our member) and the entire Akinjide family. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. As we join to mourn the loss of this legal icon, our prayers is that Almighty God will give all, especially the family the fortitude to bear the loss, the Branch chairman stated.
