Covid-19: WHO boss cautions against stay-at-home without necessaries

THE Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has called on nations to be careful in the stay at home orders without adequate provisions of necessaries particularly food for the poor and vulnerable in the society.

Ghebreyesus made the remarks on Thursday via tweeter stating that such policy without putting into consideration the welfare of the masses that depend on daily incomes for survival which is usually in the majority, is hazardous and will have negative consequences to the population.

“Countries are asking people to stay at home and shutting down population movement to limit Coronavirus transmission. These steps can have unintended consequences for the poorest and most vulnerable.

“I call on countries to ensure these populations have food and life essentials during the crisis”, WHO boss tweeted.

Some countries have ordered a stay at home in some parts of the cities toward preventing the spread of coronavirus. In Nigeria, a good number depend on daily incomes for survival and have been terribly affected by the movement restriction without sufficient necessaries in their houses.
