Covid-19: Give free airtime for calls, others, Hamzat appeals to telecom operators

A human rights activist, Abdulrazaq Hamzat has called on telecoms operators in the country to give citizens free emergency credit for calls and internet access during the stay-at-home policy as a contribution to the nation during the trying period.

Hamzat, who is the Executive Director, Foundation for Peace Professionals while giving ten (10) tips to get rid of Corona contagion enjoins all Nigerians to essentially stay at home at the moment while the search for its treatment gathers momentum which include;

  • Private businesses should follow government lead by paying their workers, even if it is 50% of their salaries.
  • National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) should partner with state governments to provide emergency food suppliers to all states across the federation
  • All corporate organizations should credit government with emergency support funds, which should be used to support citizens in need during this national emergency.
  • All political parties should issue statements declaring support for government and encourage their members to collaborate with government in any way they can.
  • All traditional rulers should complement government and assist them in ensuring compliance to directives in their domain.
  • Religious leaders should also support government by following instructions and disseminating same to their followers via the media. They should also encourage their followers to volunteer, as well as offer their places of worship to government for use.
  • Transporters and Leadership of NURTW should also collaborate with government and volunteer their members across the country to provide emergency transport services, and lecturers through their association, ASUU should volunteer their services to government in whatever capacity necessary
