A car owner advertised and displayed his car for sale. A dubious customer called and was given location of the car for inspection as requested.
After satisfactory inspection of the car, he deceitfully headed to the bank to make transfer and requested that all documents of the car be assembled and made ready for collection as soon as payment is made.
Shortly after that, payment alert was received on owner’s phone and few minutes after the alert, the customer came and hurriedly collected all the paper plus the car and left..
To the owner’s greatest shock, he went to the bank and could not find any money and the bank refuted the alert and insisted the alert did not come from the bank.
It was also discovered that all the information provided by the buyer-swindler were fake.
The advice is that alert can be manipulated, and therefore, is no longer a confirmation of payment. Please be careful when doing transactions. Be smart.
